Meet Bay Area Lawyer Paul S. Silver

I entered private practice in Santa Rosa immediately after passing the Bar. In the first decade or so my practice covered a wide variety of fields including personal injury, family law, bankruptcy, probate, formation of corporations and partnerships, preparation of transactional documents, landlord-tenant, construction, commercial litigation, and practice before the California Public Utilities Commission.

In roughly the second decade I focused on personal injury cases consisting of auto accidents, slip/trip and fall cases, products liability, construction site accidents, and other negligence cases. Around 1996 I began focusing on medical and dental malpractice (mostly dental), and environmental cases under the Federal Clean Water Act (CWA). The CWA cases have been in association with my younger brother, Jack Silver.

Trial Practice:

Trial experience includes both jury and non-jury trials in State and Federal courts in the fields of personal injury, construction defect, landlord-tenant, commercial litigation, family law, bankruptcy, and the Federal Clean Water Act. I have also tried several cases before administrative law judges with the California Public Utilities Commission, Department of Insurance, Worker's Compensation Appeals Board, and the Social Security Administration.

Until mediation became the most popular forum for resolution of monetary damage claims, I arbitrated at least 50 cases in behalf of injured plaintiffs.

Other Experience:

Settlement Conference Panelist for the Sonoma County Superior Court for at least 15 years, handling from 2-6 settlement conferences a session, twice a year.

Court appointed Arbitrator for the Sonoma County Superior Court. In that capacity I have probably arbitrated 30-40 cases.

Participant in several mediations a year for the last 10-15 years.
